Serbia's Seselj Hymns Trump with Nationalist Song

At a parliamentary session on Thursday, Serbian Radical Party chief Vojislav Seselj used his phone to play MPs a traditional Serbian Chetnik song with new lyrics inspired by the victory of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The song, entitled 'Serbia for Trump', describes Trump as a New York duke who will bring freedom to the world while secretly wearing the costume of the Serbian WWII nationalist group, the Chetniks.

The song also says it hopes Trump will expel Muslims from the US and cooperate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On Wednesday, Seselj also sent a letter to Trump congratulating him for winning the election.

The letter praised Trump's reported criticism of the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia and expressed hope for a "bright new chapter" in US-Serbian relations.

"Mr President-Elect, as you work for the good of America and the world, Serbia should always be looked at as an ally in realising the goals of peace and democracy for all," it said.

Seselj was acquitted of war crimes by the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia in March this year, but the case has now gone to appeal.

He is currently a member of the Serbian parliament and is likely to run for the country's presidency in 2017.

In September, Seselj 'welcomed' US Vice-President Joe Biden to Belgrade with a well-publicised political rally in support of Trump.

In January this year Seselj, called "on brother Serbs who live in the USA to strongly support Republican Party candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential elections".
