Milic: NATO not forcing anyone to become its member

BELGRADE - It has finally become clear there are no secret plans to draw Serbia into NATO, Jelena Milic, director of the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies, said as a two-day international conference as part of the 4th Belgrade NATO Week drew to a close Tuesday.

"I think that now there is finally a consensus that NATO is not forcing anyone and that there are no secret affairs aimed at drawing Serbia into NATO - the process of joining NATO is very exerting and demanding even for countries that express the willingness (to become members)," she told Tanjug.

Aleksandar Vucic has become the first Serbian PM since the democratic changes in Serbia to meet with the North Atlantic Council and the NATO secretary-general in a stepped-up political dialogue as part of the Individual Partnership Action Plan, and both sides expressed readiness for further cooperation, she said.
