BiH Constitutional Court annuls RS referendum results

SARAJEVO - The Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) on Thursday annulled the results of the September 25 Republika Srpska Day referendum due to what it said was non-compliance with the BiH constitution, the RTRS reported.

At a plenary meeting in Sarajevo, the Court upheld a petition by BiH Presidency member Bakir Izetbegovic and others that the "constitutional law dispute with the entity of Republika Srpska" regarding a July 15 decision to call the referendum be resolved, the Court said.

The ruling was made due to the fact that the decision to hold the referendum had been ruled as unconstitutional and contrary to the court's September 17 ruling on an interim measure, the court said.

The decision is unconstitutional as it formulates a referendum question on which a final and binding Constitutional Court ruling already exists, it said.
