A 16-year-old boy, Selamat Riayadi, has gotten married to his 71-year-old heartthrob, Rohaya, in Indonesia. The couple, who claim to be deeply in love, threatened to kill themselves if family members deterred them from getting married. Rohaya had been widowed twice before. No one knows the motivation behind the union, as both lovebirds are poor. A dowry of 200,000 Indonesian Rupiah (N5,500) was paid by Selamat’s family to Rohaya’s family. When the video and photos of the weird wedding hit the internet, many did not believe it. Questions about its authenticity were raised. But an Indonesian news outlet claims it spoke to Kuswoyo who confirmed both the marriage and the couple’s threats to kill themselves if they were barred from marrying.
