Serbia to receive Russian warplanes by end of year

Russia should to finalize delivery of MiG-29 fighters to Serbia by the end of 2017, Sputnik is reporting.

The agency is citing Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Director Dmitry Shugaev who spoke in Zhukovsky on Wednesday, at the MAKS International Aviation and Space Salon.

Beside the six MiG-29s, Russia will deliver 30 T-72s tanks and 30 BRDM-2 armored reconnaissance vehicles to Belgrade as part of the same military aid package, Shugaev announced.

"The completion of MiG-29 aircraft deliveries to the Republic of Serbia is planned by the end of 2017," he told reporters, according to Sputnik.

This official revealed earlier in the day that Russia and Serbia are discussing deliveries of "S-300 air defense system battalions."
