Turkey's EU minister to meet EU foreign ministers

Turkey's EU Minister Ömer Çelik will come together with foreign ministers of EU countries at the Informal Meeting of Foreign Ministers in Estonia this week, his office announced on Sept. 5.

Çelik's meeting with top EU diplomats comes at a time when Germany had announced it will discuss suspending or ending Turkey's accession negotiations with the EU in an October meeting. 

EU's term president Estonia will host a Gymnich meeting on Sept. 7 and 8 in Talinn where EU foreign ministers will discuss a wide range of issues in an informal environment. Turkey was scheduled to be represented at the meeting by Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, but he will be replaced by Minister Çelik, as Çavuşoğlu will travel to Bangladesh to visit the camps where Rohinghyan Muslims fleeing violence in Myanmar are sheltered.
