Ratko Mladic sentenced to life imprisonment

THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) on Wednesday sentenced Ratko Mladic to life imprisonment after finding that he had significantly contributed to the commission of genocide in Srebrenica and other war crimes in the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The tribunal concluded his actions had significantly contributed to the commission of genocide against Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica and that he had terrorised the population of Sarajevo and ordered hostage-taking, etc.

THE HAGUE - The International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia has sentenced Ratko Mladic, a former Republika Srpska Army Commander of the Main Staff, to life imprisonment for "genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of the laws or customs of war," an ICTY statement said.
