Protocol signed to support economic empowerment of women

During the global campaign 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence, a protocol on cooperation was signed in Belgrade.

The protocol concerns the realization of the project ONAsnazivanje, and was inked by Fund B92, the City of Sremska Mitrovica, the City of Pancevo, and the City of Sombor, as well as their respective welfare centers.

The protocol was signed on the occasion of the new, 2017-2019 cycle of the ONAsnazivanje project aimed at economic empowerment of women who survived violence and women belonging to vulnerable categories of the population.

"Because of the importance of approaching the problem of violence against women in a comprehensive way, as well as the role of state institutions in this, we wanted to initiate cooperation with competent institutions of the cities of Sombor, Pancevo, and Sremska Mitrovica in order to establish a more efficient service for economic empowerment of women from those areas," said Veran Matic, president of the Board of Directors of Fund B92.

The project will be implemented in cooperation with local welfare centers, safe houses and local women's associations that will play an active role in providing economic empowerment and the functioning of new enterprises.

ONAsnazivanje was initiated by Fund B92, and the project is being implemented in partnership with the SMart Kolektiv and the social enterprise Dobra Basta. Financial support is provided by the United Nations Fund to End Violence against Women.
