PM Dancila: Deepening relationship with Israel represents priority for Romania

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila met on Friday at the Victoria Palace with Ambassador of the State of Israel Tamar Samash, occasion on which the symbolic importance of 2018 for the dynamic of the bilateral relations was underscored, as well as the interest of the Romanian side for completing the project for the opening of Romania's National Museum of Jewish History and the Holocaust.

According to a release of the Government sent to AGERPRES, during talks, the symbolic importance of 2018 for the bilateral relations was underscored, taking into account that, this year, the State of Israel celebrates 70 years since its establishment and 70 years of uninterrupted Romanian-Israeli diplomatic relations, while Romania celebrates the Greater Union Centennial.

The two officials evoked the traditional friendship relations between the two countries and highlighted the excellent level of cooperation between Romania and the State of Israel. In this context, PM Viorica Dancila assessed that the deepening of the relationship with Israel represents a priority for Romania.

"Viorica Dancila has already remarked the fulfillment of a decade of Romania's constant commitment in respect to condemning anti-Semitism, assuming the past and condemning the denial of Holocaust," the quoted source mentions.

On this occasion, Romania's interest for continuing the cooperation in the Holocaust education area was reiterated, as well as for completing the project for the opening of Romania's National Museum of Jewish History and the Holocaust.

Moreover, the two officials emphasis on diversifying the economic and sectorial cooperation, in the prospect of resuming the political dialogue on a governmental level, as well as the possibility of concluding a Romanian-Israeli partnership in the area of new technologies, in sectors such as energy, sustainable agriculture, cyber-security and entrepreneurial innovations for high-tech areas.

In respect to economy, PM Viorica Dancila and Ambassador Tamar Samash underscored the necessity of identifying some concrete projects that will stimulate the mutual interest of business communities of the two countries.

The two officials highlighted the increased interest of both sides for investments in the medical area, widening cooperation in the pharmaceutic area and for creating regional centers of radiotherapy. The tourism area, especially the spa area, were also considered offering for the Israeli investors, the Executive release mentions.
