Premier Viorica Dancila carries out visit in Brussels; meetings with high European officials, scheduled

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila is carrying out an official visit in Brussels, on which occasion she will hold a series of meetings with high European officials on Tuesday and Wednesday, a press release of the Executive announces.

The premier will meet with the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk, with the President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani and President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and with European Commissioner for Regional Policy, Corina Cretu.

"The visit's main objective is the strengthening of the dialogue between Romania's Prime Minister and Government and the European institutions, at the highest level, in preparation of Romania taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, from 1 January 2019," the Government's press release informs.

The premier will present Romania's priorities for the upcoming period, with an emphasis on the main European cases, such as the Union's post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework, including Romania's role in the future negotiations.
"The Prime Minister will highlight the importance Romania grants the maintenance of important allocations to the cohesion and agricultural policies. Moreover, aspects related to the strengthening of the European design, internal security, the EU vicinity and the deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union, as well as issues of interest in view of the 2019 European elections will be tackled," the quoted source specifies.

The Government further informs that the visit will occasion the reiteration of Romania's commitment to constructively contribute to the management of current challenges and the strengthening of the EU's unity and cohesion, by assuring an efficient mandate that allows for the obtainment of positive results throughout the Presidency to the Council of the EU, included.AGERPRES(RO - author: Daniel Florea, editor: Georgiana Tanasescu; EN - author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican)
