Tsipras, Anastasiades talk as Turkey renews Navtex

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades held a phone conversation on Tuesday after Turkey renewed a Navtex reserving an area inside Block 3 of Cyprus's exclusive economic zone (EEZ) for a military exercise until March 10.

The previous notice, which expires on Thursday, has been used as a justification not to allow the Saipem 1200 drillship chartered by Italian energy giant Eni, or any other vessel for that matter, to approach Block 3.

Anastasiades is expected to hold an emergency meeting with government ministers later Tuesday to discuss Cyprus's immediate steps. According to Skai, Nicosia is planning to file a demarche with the United Nations, while Eni is also expected to react to Turkey's move.

Meanwhile, a meeting between Cyprus's party leaders will take place Wednesday at 9.30 a.m.
