JusMin on SRI-Public Ministry protocol: To be seen to what extent it allowed interferences in fundamental freedoms and rights

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader wrote in a Facebook post on Friday, in respect to the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) - the Public Ministry protocol, that "it has to be seen to what extent the enforcement of the protocol allowed interferences in fundamental rights and freedoms" and "if and to what extent, by concluding it, the signatories added to the law, substituting the law-maker."

In the post called "About protocols and possible consequences!," the Justice Minister underlines that, after the demarches for the declassification of the protocol between the Public Ministry and the SRI, the process of declassifying similar protocols is currently continuing.

"On 16 March 2018, I was publicly announcing that I would ask the Public Ministry to declassify the protocol concluded with the SRI! On 19 March 2018, I officially requested the Public Ministry to initiate the necessary demarches for the declassification of the respective protocol. On 20 March 2018, at the Justice Ministry, we received the protocol between the Public Ministry and the SRI. Today, we appreciate the continuation of the process of declassifying other similar protocols, as well. It has to be seen to what extent the enforcement of the protocol allowed interferences in fundamental rights and freedoms. It has to be seen if and to what extent, by concluding this protocol, the signatories added to the law, substituting the law-maker," Tudorel Toader showed in his post.
