Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) announces Bulgaria's "Personalities in the News" for 2017!

The poll was open in December,  and readers of Bulgaria's Novinite.com had two months to vote until the end of February.

Editors of Novinite.com made the ultimate selection for Person of the Year for 2017— identified as the person or group of people who, for better or worse, wielded the most influence in the previous 12 months. The poll provides insight about how our readers view the people who most shaped the year.

Winners in recent years include Bulgaria's highest-ranking tennis player Grigor Dimitrov, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova, former UK Ambassador Jonathan Allen, and many others.

There are five categories this year but only one winner for each.

It is quite logical that Milena Dragijska-Dencheva returns to her home country when Lidl entered the Bulgarian market. Since 2007, she has been the head of the Bulgarian company in the group. Sales of over 15 million leva were realized by Bulgarian manufacturers in Lidl stores in Europe in 2017.

The other personalities nominated in this category are Vladimir Koylazov and Peter Mitev, Chaos Group; Peter Andronov, CEO of CIBANK and UBB.
