AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency and WAM Emirates News Agency sign memorandum of understanding

Several memoranda of understanding between Romania and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including one between the AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency and the WAM Emirates News Agency were signed on Tuesday by the foreign affairs ministers of the two countries, namely Teodor Melescanu and Sultan al Jaber.

The event took place at the Parliament Palace, on the sidelines of the fist session of the joint cooperation committee between Romania and the UAE. Therefore, the following bilateral collaboration documents have been signed by Minister Melescanu, other ministers or secretaries of state: a memorandum of understanding on setting up of joint cooperation committee between the Government of Romania and the UAE Government, a memorandum of understanding between Romania's Agriculture and Rural Development Ministry and the Ministry of Climate Changes and Environment of the UAE regarding the cooperation in the agriculture area, a memorandum of understanding between the Youth and Sports Ministry of Romania and the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare of the UAE, a memorandum of understanding between the AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency and WAM Emirates News Agency and a memorandum of understanding between the Governments of Romania and the UAE in the area of cultural cooperation.

"The setting up of a joint cooperation committee through a memorandum of understanding between the Governments of Romania and the United Arab Emirates which I signed (...) will create a more orderly and structured framework of dialogue to the benefit of both countries," Teodor Melescanu stated.

He stated that the discussions within the committee reflected "the current trends of the bilateral relations."

The head of the Romanian diplomacy stated that "the potential for collaborating in various niche areas, such as information and communications technology, renewable energy, environmental protection and preservation, real estate and tourism" were also tackled during talks.
