DefMin Fifor: National Defence College, a centre of academic excellence

Defence Minister Mihai Fifor, on Monday attended the opening of a new series of the "Security and Good Governance" class at the National Defence College.

"In its 26 years of activity, the college has proved to be a centre of academic excellence that promotes security culture, a school of political and military elites," Fifor said, according to a press statement released by the National Defence Ministry (MApN).

Fifor pointed out that since 1992, approximately 3,900 trainees have graduated from the National Defence College, adding that they are contributing to the integration of this military organisation with the social and political system of the rule of law.

"You are the future military and civilian leaders responsible for the national security of Romania. We are inside a special framework for dialogue and co-operation between the armed forces and the other institutions of the rule of law. I would like for us to have the same openness in the future and to support ourselves reciprocally in carrying out some projects," Fifor told the attendees.

The course, designed for military and civilian personalities, aims to train high-level specialists with in-depth skills in shaping up public security strategies and policies correlated with domestic political processes and important events taking place in Romania's strategic space.

The postgraduate training and professional development programme in the field of national security and defence of the National Defence College includes three courses: "Introduction to National Security," "Current Problems of National Security," "Security and Good Governance."
