The Biggest Investors in Bulgaria are from the EU

The biggest foreign investors in the Bulgarian economy are from the European Union, according to a statement made by the Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov.
 
Foreign direct investment in the country for the period January - March 2018 amounted to EUR 179.1 million. For the same period in 2017 these foreign investments in the country amounted to EUR 950.1 million.
 
the ten countries with the largest direct investments in Bulgaria in 2017 are primarily from the European Union and there is no country with a preferential tax regime. The largest net direct investment in the country in January - December 2017 is from the Netherlands (EUR 875.7 million), Switzerland (126.6 million euros) and Germany (94 million euros), Karanikolov stressed.

The share of investments in jurisdictions with preferential tax regime in Bulgaria in 2017 is insignificant and has no impact on the development of the country's economy, Karanikolov stressed.
 
In recent years, we have seen the recovery of foreign direct investment levels to levels prior to the start of the global economic and financial crisis of 2008, the minister said. In confirmation of the data, we consider a significant increase in interest in Bulgaria as an investment destination, especially in manufacturing and business services with high added value, he added.
