10-meter Monument of the Sailor in Varna

The monument of the sailor will be built at almost 10 meters in Varna. This was revealed to Darik by Cap. Dimitar Dimitrov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Maritime Destiny Foundation. Their is the initiative for a symbol of sailors in the sea capital.

The monument will look like a styled nose on a ship and on it will be a figure of a sailor with binocular in one hand looking out at the sea. It will be located in the pedestrian area of ​​Slivnitsa Blvd, right next to the Festival and Congress Center.

The monument will also be visible from the sea, as the stylized nose of a ship will be 7,80 meters high. About 2.80 meters will be the figure of the sailor on top.

At the foot of the monument will be built 6 granite slabs measuring 30x30 cm, symbolizing the main maritime professions - shipping, port activity, ship repair and shipbuilding, marine engineering, fishing and diving.

About 300 000 leva will be the cost of the project. The design is estimated at BGN 86,000 and includes the making of a model of the sailor figure, which will be made of bronze. Approximately BGN 186,000 is assessed for performance. Another 40 000 leva will go for the 6 plates and the two pillars that will be placed near the monument. The aim is to hold ceremonies and raise flags, Captain Dimitrov explained.

Several days ago, a campaign to raise funds for the construction of the Seaman's Memorial was launched. In the Maritime Administration, the building of the Municipality of Varna and other public places will be put boxes for donations. Donations can also be made by purchasing a card with a price of 10 leva.

The aim of Maritime Destiny Foundation is to raise funds for up to one year. Their hopes are the Municipality of Varna to help financially....
