Bulgarian is Detained in Spain on Suspicion of Murder of a Woman in Germany

Spanish police have detained a 38-year-old Bulgarian suspected of murder in an attempt to rape a woman in Berlin, the prosecutor's office in the German capital said.

The man is arrested on the basis of evidence from DNA expertise. It is believed he has strangled the 30-year-old Melanie Rechberger to conceal a rape attempt. According to a report broadcast on German television, the victim has left her home in Berlin on the afternoon of May 25th to get home from work.

She has been a social networking consultant and has also worked from home. She went to stay in the sun and to read in a secluded place near the train rails. Her body was found two days later. Investigators have expressed confidence that they have discovered the perpetrator who resided in Berlin but did not have a permanent residence there.
