Bosnian Serb Parties Demand Debate on Youngster's Death

Opposition parties in the Republika Srpska gathered in the Alliance for Victory on Wednesday requested an extraordinary session of the parliament of the mainly Serbian entity, claiming that the prosecution was intentionally delaying the investigation into the unresolved death of a 21-year-old student.

They confirmed that an international team of layers, hired by the victim's father, will arrive in Banja Luka next Tuesday, to get acquainted with the investigation and provide information for the public.

"We expect this case to be solved; it is in the interests of justice," Nedeljko Glamocak, an MP from the opposition Serbian Democratic Party, SDS, said on Wednesday.

David Dragicevic's body was discovered in late March in shallow water in the river Crkvena, not far from the centre of Banja Luka.

Police in the entity have failed to resolve the case, which has been at the centre of public attention ever since, in both the RS and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Police first said he most likely drowned. But the fact that his body was covered in bruises stirred public suspicion about this version of events.

The case has led to mass protests in the RS, which have been held for 150 days in a row, at the same time serving as a tool for the opposition to attack the ruling majority, controlled by the RS President, Milorad Dodik.

Dodik denies that the RS authorities have been trying to cover up the murder. On Monday, he said the RS government would provide a reward for any information that would help to enlighten the case.

"We are ready to give 500,000 marks [250,000 euros] for all relevant information that brings us to a solution. I'm ready to do it," Dodik said.
