Edvin Marton promising spectacular performance at Cerbul de Aur

Composer and violinist Edvin Marton of Hungary is promising a spectacular act on Saturday as he goes onstage at the Cerbul de Aur - Golden Stag International Competitive Music Festival with his famous Stradivarius that dates back to 1699.

Marton is also part of the jury who will decide the winners of this year's Golden Stag Trophy.

"My last album is called ‘From Vivaldi to Metallica,'" said Marton, who provided a piece of his show to the journalists attending his news conference on Friday.

The artist confessed that it would be difficult for him to play the role of jury member for those who compete "in beauty stories."

"It is a great responsibility, because there are so many talents, voices that are exceptional and I will have to pick only one winner, which is very difficult. (...) To me, the winner of the trophy is the one who will enrapture us with the voice, with everything being done onstage. It's very difficult for them because everyone is nervous. It's difficult to sing on such a big and generous stage. Those who judge will have to judge how they control their nervousness in front of these thousands of people and millions of viewers. This is a very serious matter that needs to be evaluated with some professional eyes," the violinist said.

He then recalled his first competition when he was 18 against 20 Chinese and 18 exceptional Japanese contesters. To Marton, music is a kind of being. "My children are playing three pianos," Marton added.

The artist also made an invitation to the Romanian composers: "Dear composers of Romania, go to work! Edvin Marton is open!."

Marton owns a violin made by the famous luthier Antonio Stradivari in 1699 for the protection of which the artist is accompanied by special security. He played his violin in Bucharest earlier this year.

The winner of an Emmy Award for Best Original Composition, Marton has enraptured audiences all over the world after his exceptional collaboration with Russian skater Evgeni Plushenko and after winning the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, alongside Dima Bilan.

The Golden Stag Festival debuted in 1968 and had 17 editions, the last of which was held in 2009.

Unfolding August 29 September 2 in Piata Sfatului in Brasov in the year of Romania's Centennial of December 1, 1918 Greater Union and the half centennial of the Golden Stag, the festival this year has a special format, with an anniversary gala, two days of contest, a gala of the festival, the "Centennial Romania" show and related events.
