Liberals' Orban considers lack of labour force in private sector can be solved with administration staff

National Liberal Party (PNL) leader Ludovic Orban stated on Wednesday evening that the work force deficit in the private sector could be reduced with people from the administration included, affirming that there shouldn't be one million employees in the public sector.

Orban explained at private TV broadcaster B1 TV some of PNL's measures to solve the crisis on the labour market.

"There's need for a set of measures conceived as a whole, so you increase the number of people from non-EU citizens that you bring to the country, you also take people off social benefits that you convince to find a job, through this system you look for to put into contact the Romanians working in the diaspora with the employees in Romania to find jobs. And I am giving you another source: for example from the administration. I don't think it's normal for the administration to have one million employees working in the public sector," Orban said.

He affirmed that a draft law is being debated in the Senate which raises to a five-year threshold the number of foreign citizens who can legally work in Romania.

"Poland has 2 million employees from Ukraine on Poland's labour market. Romania has a great advantage because there are over 2.5 million Romanians around Romania, in Bessarabia, Northern Bucovina, Serbian Banat who could come to Romania to work," the PNL leader said.

At the same time he considers it useful to set up a portal where companies can present their job offers to the Romanians abroad.

"I have come up with an idea you don't need a law for. What is so complicated for the Labour Ministry, together with the Ministry of Romanians Everywhere to create a simple portal where companies that need labour force can meet with the Romanians working abroad - any Romanian abroad who might want to find a certain job, paid at a certain level, obviously, similarly to what he is making in Spain or Italy if he/she is doing less qualified jobs? What is so complicated to create such a platform? A portal where a Romanian abroad can get into contact with a company that is looking [for an employee, ed.n.]," the PNL leader affirmed.AGERPRES(RO - author: Gheorghe Pietrar, editor: Antonia Nita; EN - author: Simona Iacob, editor: Maria Voican)
