PM Dancila, Commissioner Cretu identify solutions for building three regional hospitals

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu discussed on Monday the existing financing possibilities for the construction of three regional hospitals and identified solutions for building them, shows a Government's release issued for AGERPRES.

The two officials met and discussed in the context of the European official's participation in the Conference "An Inclusive Cohesion Policy for a Union Closer to Its Citizens".

According to the Executive, the two officials tackled the topic of the construction of three regional hospitals, a "priority project for the Romanian Government", "and have identified solutions for the building these hospitals."

Another important project on the discussion agenda was that of the very high-intensity laser at Magurele (ELI-NP). Also discussed was the issue of the absorption of European funds in the field of transport infrastructure, the Executive informs.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review the actions for preparing the taking over and exercising the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union. At the same time, there was an exchange of views on the ongoing discussions at EU level on the future of post-2020 cohesion policy and on the need to maintain its priority role in stimulating investment and economic growth, highlighting, in the context, the importance of adequate reflection of this policy in the architecture of the future Multi-Annual Financial Framework 2021-2027.

As to the negotiations on the future European budget, Premier Dancila said that "Romania is proposing a constructive approach leading to reaching a compromise to reflect both the needs to meet the new challenges and the needs related to the further promotion of a real convergence at the EU level, by providing adequate funding for the cohesion policy and the common agricultural policy," the Government underscores.
