Kosovo police launch 12-hour shifts in all regions

The working hours of Kosovo police officers has been extended to 12 hours, as opposed to the current 8, Kosovo media reported, citing the police.

There are no concrete details why this decision is being implemented, except that it is aimed at "maintaining public order and peace and preventing criminal offenses."

The decision was made by the General Police Directorate and will apply to all police officers throughout Kosovo, Kosovapress and RTK reported.

The Kosovo Police Information Office told Kosovo media that the decision was made "depending on the needs of the police", however, this office did not provide any specific details.

The Kosovo police also ordered the vacation suspension of its uniformed members at the beginning of August. No details were provided at the time. The same decision was withdrawn barely two weeks later, on August 12.

Although no incident had occurred on the field, during this period, tensions related to the Kosovo issue, especially the issue of the North, were very high.
