SANU rejects resignation offered by its president

A majority of members of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SANU) have not accepted the resignation offered by SANU President Vladimir Kostic.

Also, during the voting that took place by departments, a request was made that he continues as president.

With the full support of the Executive Board, the president of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, respecting the opinion of his colleagues, complied with their position and will continue his work, in the hope that such a vast majority that stood behind this position is partly a sign of support for the work so far - said a press release issued by the Executive Board on Friday.

On November 9, Kostic offered his resignation to SANU departments - the epilogue of the Election Assembly held the previous day, when 14 new corresponding members had been elected.
