UPDATE/PM Dancila:We'll notify CCR, President said he won't make any decision before next week

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila stated that the Government will notify the Constitutional Court of Romania (CCR), after President Klaus Iohannis conveyed on Thursday, over a phone conversation, that, before next week, he won't make any decision regarding the proposals of the new ministers for the Transport and Development Ministries.

"We will notify the CCR, I talked with President Iohannis today, I called Mr President, I wanted to see what happened, if he will nominate the two ministers, taking into account that we are in the period prior to taking over the Presidency of the EU Council and it's very important for the new ministers to assume their files, to get in touch with the heads of the committees of the European Parliament, to talk to the rapporteurs. Mr President said that he is still analysing and, until next week, he won't make any decision, thus, we are forced to lodge this notification to the Constitutional Court, because we have a very had period ahead of us, a period in which the Government must present itself as it should, in order to have a successful Presidency and we cannot play with such things," PM Dancila stated at Parliament.

When asked what exactly did the President convey, the PM responded: "The President, as I said before, the President said the he will will analyse it until next week."

"If he had given me a date, I would have said it, but he told me that until next week," she added.

When asked when will the notification be lodged at the CCR, the PM mentioned: "Tomorrow [Friday], yes, we will notify the Constitutional Court." AGERPRES (RO - author: Daniel Florea, editor: Mihai Simionescu; EN - author: Rodica State, editor: Cristina Zaharia)
