AGERPRES photo exhibition "Romania: Evolution" travels to Lisbon

The photo exhibition "Romania: Evolution" mounted by the AGERPRES National News Agency trevalled to Lisbon, Portugal, on Thursday, where he was presented at an Amicus Romaniae (Romania's friend) award gala in partnership with the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) in Lisbon and the Romanian Embassy in Portugal.

Also as part of the 10th edition of the "Amicus Romaniae" gala awards the photo album "Romania: Evolution" was displayed and a trailer of the AGERPRES video "The Greater Union - Romania at 100" was screened, which will run in full at the end of the exhibition.

The event hosted by the ICR Lisbon consisted in the presentation of ten awards in recognition and appreciation of personalities from the Portuguese cultural and organsiational environment who supported the dissemination of Romanian culture values in Portugal. Thus, dozens of attendees, photographers, singers, museum directors, film directors, directors of media organisations and journalists, professors, chairs of cultural foundations, Romanian and Portuguese lawmakers and other people of culture, could enjoy both the exhibition as the homonymous album, a special edition dedicated to the centennial of Romania's Greater Union.

Romanian Ambassador to Portugal Ioana Bivolaru showed that the anniversary edition of the Amicus Romaniae Awards, the opening of the exhibition "Romania: Evolution" and a recital by Portuguese musician Paulo Braganca, conclude the series of the Greater Union Centennial celebrations in Portugal.

"It was a new opportunity to showcase the Romanian cultural potential that I have presented from northern to southern Portugal through our actions, among which I'd like to mention the Romanian Cultural Season at the National Archeology Museum and the programme 'Great Romanian artists at Portugal's great cathedrals'. All of our events have enjoyed this year support from prestigious Portuguese organisations partners, true friends of Romania (Amicus Romaniae)," Ioana Bivolaru said.

"The Amicus Romaniae Awards came into existence in 2009. Today, in your presence, they are awarded for the tenth time to a total of 10 Portuguese friends. And because not only poetry, but reality also puts us in front of amazing coincidences, we cannot but remark that the two figures multiplied give 100, which evokes the Romanian Centennial, which we celebrated lavishly here in Portugal, throughout the year 2018, using constant and always friendly Portuguese support," ICR Lisbon Director Daniel Nicolescu stated.

The photography exhibition "Romania: Evolution" includes images that are part of the AGERPRES library that reflects the cultural, artistic, political and sports life of the country, as well as some photos from the Associated Press archive. Included are the best photographs recently taken by AGERPRES photographers illustrating the evolution of Romania. AGERPRES has also produced a homonymous album, a special edition for the Greater Union Centennial that contains 100 pictures from Romania, grouped in three chapters: Archives, Revolution, Evolution.

The documentary "The Greater Union - Romania at 100" is an invitation to an exciting and captivating journey, in which AGERPRES retraces the lives of those who made the union in Bessarabia, Northern Bukovina and Transylvania.
