Romania's trade balance deficit widens by 1.62 billion euro, Jan.-Oct., 2018

Romania's ten-month trade balance deficit was standing at 11.845 billion euro in late October, up by 1.62 billion euro from the same period of 2017, according to data released on Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

FOB exports amounted to 57.190 billion euro, while CIF imports amounted to 69.035 billion euro. Against the first ten months of 2017, exports increased by 9.2 percent, January 1 - October 31, 2018, and imports by 10.3 percent.

Important shares in exports and imports in the first ten months of 2018 were held by: machinery and transport equipment (47.4 percent exports and 38.0 percent imports) and other manufactured products (32.2 percent exports and 30.7 percent imports).

According to the INS, in October 2018, FOB exports amounted to 6.340 billion euro and CIF imports amounted to 8.230 billion euro, resulting in a deficit of 1.890 billion euro.

Compared with October 2017, exports in October 2018 increased by 10.0 percent and imports increased by 16.1 percent.

The value of intra-EU28 commercial exchanges between January 1 and October 31, 2018 was EUR 43.885 billion in shipments and EUR 51.539 billion in imports, making up 76.7 percent of total exports and 74.7 percent of total imports.

With regard to the value of extra-EU 28 commercial exchanges in the first ten months, it was 13.305 billion euro for exports and 17.496 billion euro for imports, accounting for 23.3 percent of total exports and 25.3 percent of total imports.
