President Iohannis to attend High-Level Forum Africa-Europe on Monday and Tuesday

President Klaus Iohannis will attend the High-Level Forum Africa-Europe on Monday and Tuesday in Vienna.

On Monday, the head of state will participate in the official dinner offered by Chancellor of Austria Sebastian Kurz, in honor of the delegations heads.

On Tuesday, it takes place the meeting of the heads of state and government, during which President Iohannis will deliver a speech. Afterwards, the head of state will attend the High-Level Forum Africa-Europe.

According to a release of the Presidential Administration, the forum aims to strengthen the EU's long-term partnership with the African continent and to focus on stimulating sustainable investment, job creation and advancing cooperation in the digital age.

Furthermore, it is designed to boost the involvement of the private sector and capitalise on the development opportunities offered by the African continent, especially in new technologies and digitalisation.

The EU and the African Union member states will be attending the high-level forum, as well as European institutions, international financial institutions. Representatives of the business milieu of both continents will also participate in the High-Level Forum, especially of the innovation, digitalisation areas and start-ups.

"President Klaus Iohannis will outline, besides the challenges that are common to the two continents, the multiple possibilities for dialogue and constructive areas of co-operation between Europe and Africa, both in terms of the relationships between the European Union and the African Union and between Romania and the states of Africa," the Presidential Administration informs.

The head of state will highlight on this occasion, as the next country to take over the Presidency of the EU Council, as of 1 January 2019, that Romania will further promote, in the spirit of the Vienna Forum, together with the other partners of the EU, a dynamic and pragmatic dialogue with Africa and cooperation actions meant to increase the level of commercial exchanges, that will lead to the creation of jobs and new opportunities, the quoted source mentions.

President Klaus Iohannis is participating in the High-Level Forum Africa-Europe at the invitation of Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and Rwanda's President Paul Kagame, as senior representatives of the EU Council Presidency, the African Union Presidency, respectively.
