Large Amounts of Rainfall in Southwest Bulgaria, Snow in the Rila-Rhodopes

Significant cloud today with rainfall in many places, at altitudes above 1,000 m - snow. Larger amounts of rain are expected in Southwest Bulgaria, while in the Rila-Rhodope region additional snow will accumulate. In Eastern Bulgaria and in parts of the northern slopes of the Balkan Mountain Range there will be moderate to strong wind from south. Maximum temperatures between 3°C and 8°C, in Eastern Bulgaria between 11°C and 14°C, in Sofia - 6-7°C. The atmospheric pressure will remain significantly lower than the average for January, meteorologist Hristo Hristov, National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, told Focus News Agency.
A code yellow warning for heavy rain and snowfall is in place for the regions of Blagoevgrad, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan and Kardzhali. Expected amounts - between 20 and 35 l/sq m.
