Number of newly-established companies running on foreign capital down 2.64 pct in 2018; share capital up 18.2pct

The number of newly-established companies running on foreign capital decreased by 2.64 per cent in 2018 against 2017, to 5,683 units, according to data centralized by the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).

The 5,683 newly-established companies had a share capital worth a total of 47.559 million US dollars, up 18.2 per cent against 2017.

According to the ONRC, in December 2018 there were registered 477 companies running on foreign capital, most of them in Bucharest - 195 and Ilfov County - 42, Timis - 39, Iasi - 33.

The total number of companies running on foreign capital established in the interval between 1991 and 2017 was 215,651, the total value of their subscribed share capital reaching 61.3 billion US dollars.

On December 31, 2018, Romania had 221,334 companies running on foreign capital, most of them, 47,239 running on Italian capital, while the highest value of the share capital, however, was recorded by the Dutch companies, with 13,223 billion US dollars, in 5,258 companies.
