Bulgaria Remains the EU Country with the Lowest Gross Minimum Wage

Bulgaria remains the EU country with the lowest gross minimum wage - 286 euros, writes Econ.bg

This shows Eurostat data for January 2019, when Romania has a minimum wage of 446 euros.

In 22 out of the 28 EU Member States there are national minimum wages, with the difference between the lowest and the highest being nearly 7 times. Bulgaria has traditionally ranked last, although in 2019 the lowest reward was increased from BGN510 to BGN560.

Eurostat indicates that in nine Member States minimum wages vary between € 400 and € 600 a month. All of them are in the eastern part of the EU, for example the Czech Republic and Slovakia - respectively 519 and 520 euros.

In the South, the minimum wage in five Member States is between 650 and over 1000 per month - Greece is 684 euros, and Spain 1050.
