#Romania2019.eu/JusMin Toader: We want Romania to be said it contributed to improving life of European citizens

Romania's Justice Minister Tudorel Toader said on Friday that he wants Romania to be said it helped improve the life of the European citizens at the end of its Presidency of the Justice and Home Affairs Council.

"We want good collaboration with all member countries, good collaboration with the [presidency] trio [that includes] Finland and Croatia, which will take over the presidency form Romania, and I want at the end of Romania's Presidency of the Council of the European Union, but I am talking now about the JHA Council, to look back and hopefully can say that we have accomplished our mission at the JHA Council presidency, that we have contributed to the harmonisation of legislation in the European area, that we have contributed to raising the standards of protection of the fundamental rights and freedoms, that we have facilitated judicial co-operation in the European area and not only that we have facilitated economic, cultural and social co-operation in the European area, but that we have also contributed to improving the lives of the European citizens in general and, certainly, of the Romanian citizens, who are European citizens," Toader said at Parliament Palace, where an informal meeting of the JHA Council takes place.

The EU justice and home affairs ministers attend an informal meeting at Parliament Palace in Bucharest, February 6-8, as part of the events hosted by the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
