Bulgarian Delegation Took Part in National Prayer Breakfast with Donald Trump

For the sixth consecutive year, the chairperson of GERB Parliamentary Group and deputy chair of the party Tsvetan Tsvetanov took part in the National Prayer Breakfast with US President Donald Trump, the press office of GERB announced on 8th of February. For the first time, the forum, held on 8th of February, was attended by the deputy chair of GERB and Mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova; the deputy chair of GERB and mayor of Bourgas Dimitar Nikolov and the mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Totev, reports BNT. 

MPs Mustafa Karadayi (MRF), MPs Plamen Nunev (GERB) and Zhelyo Boychev (BSP), Deputy Minister of Sport Vanya Koleva and Deputy Mayor of Sofia Todor Chobanov also took part in the event.

This year's Breakfast was attended by a number of world leaders from more than 140 countries. President Trump called for world peace, religious and ethnic tolerance. The President stressed the fact that all human beings are born equal, that life has equal value for every person. All nations and peoples of the world must affirm religious values, because this protects the freedom and dignity of the individual.

In his speech, the US president also said that all significant achievements in American history - from gaining independence, abolition of slavery, extending the vote for women and the struggles for equal civic rights, had been led by people in faith and started in prayer. It is precisely in this connection that persecution in the face of religious freedoms, which unfortunately still happens in some parts of the world, should not be allowed. Another major modern evil is the trafficking of people, the fight against which should be uncompromising, he said.
