HealthMin Pintea says facilities providing botched care to be suspended

Health Minister Sorina Pintea said on Tuesday that the healthcare facilities that have botched care to the population will have their authorisation suspended.

"The issues that have identified these days drive me forward. The private facilities that have botched care to the population will have their operating licences suspended and I will take responsibility for that; of course, on a legal basis. On the other hand, if there are criminal instances in the public healthcare system, I will not hesitate to turn to justice," said the minister, adding that the measure of suspending the licences also applies to faulty public healthcare facilities.

Pintea said that there are serious private clinics in Romania.

"There are serious private clinics, including when a prospective employee asks for a stamp code. From a preliminary report presented to me by the control staff that checks the stamp codes issued by the Bucharest Public Healthcare Directorate (DSPMB) I have learned that there are many doctors' employment files where the employing facility reaffirms willingness to hire, but after the doctors obtain their initial stamp codes," added Pintea.
