24 New Cases of HIV have been Detected since the Beginning of the Year

A total of 24 new HIV-positive people have been discovered since the beginning of the year to February 8, bringing about 3050 people with HIV in the country. This is the data of the National Program for Prevention and Control of HIV / AIDS at the Ministry of Health presented on the occasion of the launch of the second phase of the National Anti-AIDS campaign "Know Your Status" on February 14th.

In 2018, over 324,000 people have known their HIV status.

Last year, the number of newly registered men was up to seven times higher than the number of women.

Approximately 90% of newly infected with HIV in Bulgaria in 2018 are sexually infected.

On February 14, the second phase of the National Anti-AIDS Campaign, which is under the motto "Know Your Status", is traditionally launched. The campaign is implemented within the framework of the National Program for Prevention and Control of HIV and AIDS of the Ministry of Health, in partnership with regional health inspectorates, municipalities, non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, community centers, social institutions and the media.

The National Anti-AIDS Campaign is held annually in a total of 4 stages. It traditionally begins on December 1st. The second stage is February 14, and a third consecutive stage is on the third Sunday of May (on the day of empathy with HIV / AIDS). The fourth final stage is the summer Anti-AIDS campaign.

More than 150 anti-AIDS initiatives are planned that combine the elaboration of love messages combined with information on risk-free sexual behavior and motivation for HIV counseling and research.
