11.5% Less Audience in Cinemas in Bulgaria in 2018
11.5% less are the viewers who visited the cinemas in Bulgaria last year, compared to 2017, according to the data from the cinemas.
According to statistics, the number of viewers is approaching that of 2013, when it was 4.76 million, and 4.9 million people came to the cinema last year. Revenues from last year's sold tickets amounted to a total of 46,07 million leva, 10 percent less than those in 2017, and are close to their level in 2015 when they were 45,9 million leva.
In 2018, viewers of Bulgarian films decreased by 35 percent compared to those in 2017 and were 388 006 people. The revenue from the tickets decreased by almost one million leva compared to 2017 and in 2018 totaled 3,065 million leva.
According to the summary of the 30 Bulgarian films distributed last year, the most watched of them - "Attraction" - was seen by almost one third of the viewers of Bulgarian cinema - 112,934 spectators and also collected about one third of the total income - BGN 869,030. Followed by "Revolution X" with 54,575 viewers and 450,692 leva revenues, "Knockout or anything she wrote" with 41,836 spectators and 348,757 leva revenues, "Bubble Gum" with 39,195 spectators and 306,739 leva revenues and Directions "with 37,623 spectators and BGN 314,272 revenue.
The most watched film in Bulgaria in 2018 is the "Avengers: War without End" with 145,446 spectators and BGN 1,649,463. It is followed by the animation "Hotel Transylvania 3: Monster Vacation" with 170 178 viewers and BGN 1 500 424 in revenue. Based on a comic book, "Venоm", it is third in audience interest for the year with 133,619 viewers and has 1 460 440 leva revenue. Fourth and fifth in line are the biographical "Bohemian Rhapsody", which for two months last year was viewed by 142 121 viewers...
