It is Estimated that there are less than 7 Million People Left in Bulgaria

It is estimated that there are less than 7 million people left in Bulgaria. This was announced by the head of the National Statistical Institute, Sergei Tsvetarski, in front of BNT. Final data will be available after the population census in 2021.

"The census after two years will answer the question of how many we are and what we are: Reducing the population as a number is not such a problem as what are the structures of the population, what are its possibilities for self-repatriation, work, labor, economy, etc. "Said Tsvetarski, adding that if the number of the population is a big problem, countries like Malta and Luxembourg would have a lot of problems.

The largest census of population and housing in 10 years will be held in 2021 and will cost the taxpayer BGN 38 mln. The people conducting the census after two years will be two times less than the previous one, and the money, which will be released, are 1.5 times more: from 27 million to 38 million. There is a possibility that the census is cheaper if more people register electronically. It is expected that up to 65-70% of people will participate electronically, explained Sergei Tsvetarski.
