Mandatory private pension funds register over 48 billion lei assets in January, increasing 17.1pct

The mandatory private pension funds had assets worth over 48 billion lei on 31 January 2019, increasing 17.1 percent from the level in the similar month of the previous year, according to the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF). Securities hold the largest share within the assets, worth 30.37 billion lei, namely 63.2 percent. Shares come second, with 7.94 billion lei (16.52 percent), followed by bank deposits, with 4.5 billion lei, namely 9.38 percent of the total assets. According to the ASF data, on 31 January 2019, the value of the total asset of Pillar II pension funds stood at 48.063 billion lei, while the net asset was worth 48.042 billion lei. The mandatory private pension funds had 7.270 million participants, according to the ASF data, and since the beginning of collection to the system contributions for 7.138 million participants have been transferred. In November 2018, contributions for 4.061 million participants were transferred, and contributions weren't transferred for 3.189 million participants.
