Hemus Highway 10 km Longer by Autumn

Around May-June will begin the laying of the asphalt in the section between Yablanitsa and Boaza from the Hemus highway and in autumn will be ready another 10 km from the motorway. The Chairman of the Board of Road Infrastructure Agency Georgi Terziyski has checked the progress in the construction of the section which is on the territory of Lovech region. The organization of work on the track is very good, about 75% of the planned works are executed and it is quite realistic that the plot is ready about half a year earlier than planned. The plot must be completed in March 2020.

There are currently around 250 people and more than 150 specialized machines working on the site, and for three days there is a three-shift operation, said Zhivko Nedev, executive director of the contractor. He stressed that on the section between Yablanitsa and Boaza is the biggest embankment ever built in Bulgaria - 45 meters of total embankment, of which 28 m of reinforced embankment. It is almost a vertical wall of the ravine and in the construction of the embankment are used special fastening nets and systems.
