Britain and the EU have Reached a Compromise on Brexit

The European Union and the British government have negotiated a deal to step out of the stalemate around Brexit, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said, quoted by Associated Press.

Juncker said the EU and the British government are behind the revisions aimed at ending the deadlock over the Brexit agreement.

After talks with British Prime Minister Theresa May late Monday, Juncker said that British MPs would now "have to make a fundamental choice" - approving or rejecting the exit agreement.

The House of Commons rejected an overwhelming majority in January the original version of the agreement. May made efforts to negotiate with the EU changes that could convince enough MPs to support the deal.

After the meeting with May Juncker said the "current agreement is the best" and warned that there would be no new talks.

"It is either that agreement or there will not be Brexit at all, there will not be a third chance," the EC president said, quoted by the French press.

The British prime minister has confirmed that legally binding changes to the divorce agreement have been achieved.

A common instrument with a legal burden comparable to that of the exit agreement will ensure that the EU can not act with the intention of endlessly using the safeguards mechanism for the status of Northern Ireland, May said at a press conference after a more than two-hour meeting with Juncker .
