Serbia and Russia to build nuclear research center

The documents were signed in Sochi, RF, by Serbian Minister of Innovation and Technological Development Nenad Popovic and Russia's Rosatom nuclear energy corporation CEO Alexei Likhachev.

This confirms and strengthens cooperation between Serbia and Russia in this area, Popovic's ministry announced, and quoted him as saying that the signing of these agreements opens up a new perspective in relations between Serbia and Russia.
"Serbia will now have the chance to get the transfer of knowledge from the best Russian nuclear technology experts and, together with them, to renew and build the Serbian science base in this field," Popovic pointed out.
He announced that Serbia, together with Rosatom, wants to establish a modern research center for nuclear science, technology and innovation, located in Serbia.
"It will be the most modern such center in this part of Europe where nuclear technology experts from all over the world will be trained. Today, nuclear energy is used in medicine, agriculture, industry, in 'mart cities'.
