Kasparov talks AI at Microsoft Summit

Garry Kasparov, chairman of the Human Rights Foundation and a former world chess champion, tried to dispel the mythology surrounding AI at the Microsoft Summit held on Tuesday at the Stavros Niarchos Cultural Center in Athens. "Artificial intelligence will not solve problems we have not solved ourselves... but don't listen to the prophets of doom who try to paralyze our brain with dystopian visions of the future," he told the summit. Kasparov said new smartphone chess apps have more computing power than Deep Blue, the IBM computer that beat him in a legendary chess game in 1997.
