Evia-Andros undersea electrical interconnection in operation

The Evia-Andros undersea electrical interconnection, which aims to strengthen the interconnection between the islands of Andros and Tinos and the mainland system, has been put into operation, with the Andros-Tinos section expected to be up and running next month.

The Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE) said that this project, in conjunction with the Phase II Interconnection of the Cyclades with the National Electricity Transmission System, ensures that the islands will enjoy a reliable supply during the summer months when demand peaks.

Phase II of the Cyclades interconnection will be completed with the construction of a new GIS substation in Naxos and the submarine interconnection of Naxos with Paros and Mykonos in the first months of 2020.
