Serbian Right-Winger Clashes with Minister outside Parliament

On Friday, one of the Serbian opposition leader and Dveri movement president, Bosko Obradovic, and a couple of his supporters confronted the Health Minister Zlatibor Loncar and not allowing him to enter parliament.

The altercation comes after more than a week of opposition protests during the daily curfew and signals the restart of Serbia's election campaign after the lifting of the state of emergency in the country.

Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic said that 15 people were arrested over the incident.

Obradovic defended his actions, blaming President Aleksandar Vucic and his government.

"For eight years, someone has been violating the constitution, destroying all state institutions and in every way manipulating, humiliating and insulting the people and the state. We are protesting because we will not tolerate it anymore," Obradovic said in front of parliament.

Video shot by Tanjug news agency showed the Dveri activists shouting "Zlatibor, it is time for prison" and "You betrayed Kosovo" at Loncar.

Other footage showed Obradovic and ruling party MP Marijan Risticevic in a tussle, which left Risticevic with a torn jacket.

Dveri movement is part of opposition coalition Alliance for Serbia, which held anti-government protests in 2019, and is boycotting parliament sessions and the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

The elections have been rescheduled for June 21, after initial April date was postponed and the campaign halted due to the state of emergency.

On Thursday evening, a couple of hundred people protested in front of the presidency building in Belgrade, among them the leaders of the Alliance for Serbia, although they said they did not organise the protest.
