ForMin Aurescu, Swedish Ambassador Hyden talk about need of EU support for national health systems

Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu met on Wednesday with Swedish Ambassador Therese Hyden, with whom he also discussed about the necessity of a support on behalf of the European Union for the national health systems. The head of the Romanian diplomacy underscored "the need for solidarity at the European Union level, which must materialise in agreeing some solutions meant to accommodate the specific needs of each member state, which has been specifically affected, as well as ensuring a high level of economic and social convergence at the EU level, taking also into account the recent crisis," a release of the Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) sent to AGERPRES informs. Bogdan Aurescu highlighted the importance of the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy. Moreover, he mentioned the necessity of a strengthened effort, at the EU level, to support the national health systems, starting from the lessons learned following the pandemic, so they can be more efficient in managing possible similar future crisis. In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic effects over economy, an important topic on the agenda of talk was the one regarding the latest proposals of the European Commission regarding the European Economic Recovery Plan and the revision of the 2021-2027 Multiannual Financial Framework. The two officials agreed also to strengthen the bilateral cooperation in the context of Sweden taking over the Presidency of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in 2021, evoking the important role of the international organisation in preventing and solving conflicts, including the extended ones, such as the Transnistrian file, crisis management and post-conflict reconstruction. The MAE mentioned that also underscored was the interest for strengthening the cooperation regarding the Eastern Partnership and the Eastern Neighboring, taking into account Romania's expertise in this region.
