Night Curfew and New Restrictions in Greece Due to the Coronavirus

Greece has announced a night curfew for restaurants and bars in some of its top tourist destinations due to the growing number of coronavirus cases.

Government spokeswoman Aristotle Peloni also announced new entry restrictions for those arriving from the Balkans and those arriving by plane from several EU countries.

Areas where restaurants and bars will be closed from midnight to 07:00 include the popular islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Corfu, Rhodes and Crete.

The restrictions will apply from Tuesday to August 23.

In addition, all air travelers from Belgium, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden arriving on 17 August must provide a negative COVID-19 test result obtained up to 72 hours before entry, as well as all those arriving by land.

As of August 16th, only 750 people a day will be allowed in from Albania, Peloni said.

The Greek Public Health Service on Sunday announced 203 new cases of coronavirus, the most since the start of the pandemic. The virus has killed 212 people in Greece. / bntnews.bg
