Biosistemika receives EU innovation incentive

Brussels – Slovenian company Biosistemika is one of the EU’s 38 start-up, small and medium-sized companies to benefit from EUR 176 million available to encourage cutting-edge innovation. Biosistemika specialises in digital solutions for laboratories and will receive the funds for DNA data storage.

The European Commission has chosen the companies as part of the last call as part of the European Innovation Council pilot termed Accelerator.

They will receive from one to 17 million euro for developing and upgrading cutting-edge innovations.

Vying for Accelerator funds are companies from 18 countries, not only from the EU but also Switzerland, Great Britain, Norway, Iceland, Turkey and Israel.

Every company will receive up to EUR 2.5 million in grants for innovation development, while 19 of them will receive a direct equity investment of up to EUR 15 million.

Since the pilot was launched in December 2019, more than one billion euro has been distributed among 293 companies.
