Pogačar will race this year both at Tour de France and Vuelta

Ljubljana – Slovenian star cyclist Tadej Pogačar, the winner of last year’s Tour de France, will defend the title in 2021 and will also participate in the Vuelta a Espana, which he missed in 2020, UAE Team Emirates has announced.

Pogačar’s team announced this as it presented the names of team captains for the three-week Grand Tour races for this year.

The 22-year-old from Komenda will be one of the three captains of UAE Team Emirates at the Tour de France, as he defends his title from 2020 earned in a come-from-behind finish in which he defeated his older compatriot Primož Roglič.

Pogačar will also co-captain the Emirati team in the three-week tour of Spain along with David De La Cruz of Spain and Italian sprinter Matteo Trentin.

The main goal for the Slovenian is to defend his title at the Tour de France, which is scheduled to take place between 26 June and 18 July this year. The Vuelta is scheduled for 14 August-5 September.
