US Embassy marks International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The American ambassador to Athens, Geoffrey Pyatt, has issued a statement marking the 16th International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 76th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, as the United States pays tribute to the six million Jews and millions of others murdered by the Nazi regime.

Pyatt reaffirms the commitment of the American people "to combat anti-Semitism and intolerance in all its forms," while expressing US support for Greece's leadership of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance in 2021.

"It is up to all of us to educate the next generation so that the horror of the Holocaust is never repeated," Pyatt says.
