Air France returning to Ljubljana airport

Brnik – The French flag carrier Air France is returning to the Ljubljana airport on 6 March with weekly flights to Paris. Gradually the number of flights is to be gradually increased and the carrier is expected to fly between the Slovenian and French capitals five times a week during summer.

The carrier said on Friday that the schedule may be subject to alterations, considering the current situation.

Four airlines are currently flying to and from the Jože Pučnik Airport: Lufthansa is operating flights to Frankfurt, Air Serbia to Belgrade, Turkish Airlines to Istanbul and Aeroflot to Moscow.

The airport operator Fraport Slovenija expects to see more flights in the summer season, between 28 March and 30 October. Several carriers have said they would fly to Ljubljana during the summer season.

Slovenia is also trying to lure carriers with subsidies. The first call granted EUR 8 million to Turkish Airlines, Swiss Air, Air Serbia, Lufthansa, Air France, Wizzair, LOT and Montenegro Airlines, but the latter went into bankruptcy since.

The carriers that received the subsidies are obligated to operate regular flights twice a week for at least two months in the summer season.
